- Prepare 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
- Take Lemon juice to taste
- Make ready Chopped Cilantro (optional)
- Take Chopped fresh Spinach (optional)
- Make ready PREP and measure your ingredients first for ease of cooking!
Instructions to make Instant Pot Dal Soup:
- Press the SAUTE button to heat the Instant Pot. When hot, add Ghee, swirl around until shimmering.
- Add Cumin seed and Hing. When Cumin Seed sizzles, add Onion, Garlic and Ginger. Mix well, saute 1 minute.
- Add Turmeric, Red Chili powder, and Salt. Mix well.
- Turn OFF pot by pressing CANCEL.
- Add Lentils, Water and Tomato Paste. Mix well.
- Pressure Cook on HIGH for 6 minutes. After cooking is complete, RELEASE NATURALLY until float valve drops. (Approx 6 minutes in a 6-quart pot; approx 15 minutes in a 3-quart pot.
- Add Garam Masala and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Top with fresh spinach or cilantro if desired. Enjoy!
